The Evans EQ4 Calftone Drum Head is constructed from a 12-mil single ply film with a special synthetic fiber top layer. Evans Calftones are designed to have the vintage look and sound of calfskin, with an added emphasis to the middle and low-end frequencies. The sound is warm, bright and articulate with reduced overtones, thanks in part to the synthetic coating.
