The premier was given in Weill Recital Hall at CarnegieHall on April 16, 1991. It is a song cycle in the American cabaret trad ition, written in reaction to Schubert's Die Winterreise (a womanstruggles to get over a devastating love affair). The songbook also fea tures complete lyrics and a separate lyric section, notes on “December Songs” by Bernard Jacobson, and a bio of composer Maury Yeston.
