“Big Girls Don't Cry” (also called “Personal”) was written by Fergie and Tobias Gad for her 2006 debut solo album “The Dutchess”. It is a ballad about a tough break-up and the painful emotions caused by the end of a long relationship/divorce. The composition is a mix of elements from various music genres – classical, pop, acoustic folk, hip-hop and urban. About 30 instrumentalists including violin, viola and cello players are credited on the song. “Big Girls Don't Cry” had a big commercial success, mostly in the US.
